BEST TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION IDEAS

  1. iGoogle
  2. Blogging is the new idea- one example, word problems are created on blogs for students to solve-completed during class stations
  3. Podcasting was interesting- can be created with music; one instructor even used a podcast to meet her student's IEP, as she pre-recorded her test and had her spec. ed. student listen with headphones to the test, as others completed the paper test
  4. Power Points were used to make presentations in various subject areas
  5. Dance Mats were cool! They were shown in LA area; Students went to this activity after completing class assignment, and as teacher continued to help students still working on class assignment
  6. Use digital cameras to take pictures of items around school, relevant to subject matter covered; example, geometric figures - find them, take pictures and make an imovie or iphoto of information; can even do at the park, locating science objects reviewed, take pictures, etc.
  7. Liked this one- need to get more info. from Monica, but one instructor stated that you could record your lesson on document camera when a student is absent and play it back when he returns- thought this would be very helpful
  8. Introduced to Google Earth and how to locate places, and even put it into 3D design;
  9. Jigsaw puzzle on computer through www.nationalzoo.si.edu (?)

  1. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER NEEDS
  2. Kidspiration Training
  3. Perhaps, possible professional development ideas for teachers, from our computer techs. could be blogging-can we do it at HES, and if so, how do we do it? Podcasting -how exactly to go about it, and a review of Power Points;
TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOMS (SUCCESSES & DIFFICULTIES)
  1. Excel 3rd Grade Graphing Project
  2. Word 1st Grade Accoustic Poem
  3. Integrating projects that I have planned are, to survey my students, have them record data, create bar/pictographs through Excel and display during Public School Week. In addition, towards the end of the year, April/May we do a Hallettsville unit, and I hope to research through Google Earth, go to links from the internet and record data in notebook about Lavaca County/Hallettsville and then present their data through a Power Point
TCEA "HELFUL HINTS"
  1. Register before mid-December for TANT because it fills up fast.
  2. Leave around 5:45 on Tuesday Morning.
  3. Have a rough attendee schedule for the conference.
  4. If you have an 8:00 a.m. workshop on Wed., leave by 7:30 because parking is difficulty.
